GMA News and Public Affairs—the group behind the groundbreaking socio-political and historical TV series Bayan Ko, Katipunan, Ilustrado, Titser, and Sa Puso Ni Dok—is coming up with a new weekly series that hopes to revive Filipinos’ interest in folk tales.


Entitled Alamat, the series features six episodes of 2D and 3D animated renditions of Philippine legends namely, Alamat ng Bayabas, Juan Tamad, Langgam at Tipaklong, Mariang Sinukuan, Mahiwagang Singsing, and Ang Unang Bahaghari. It will air worldwide on GMA Pinoy TV beginning July 19.


Six teams of writers, directors, producers, actor-dubbers and professional animators, some of whom had prior experience in giant animation studios abroad, worked on the project.


According to Jaileen Jimeno, program manager, the primary goal of the series is to encourage the audience, especially young viewers, to appreciate the once well-loved but now almost forgotten tales of lore which were used by elders to impart good values and traditions to the youth of their time.


Each episode features the voices of various Kapuso stars and personalities who give life to the characters. The first episode, Alamat ng Bayabas, will showcase the voices of veteran actor Pen Medina and GMA Artist Center talent Harvey Almoneda.


Characters for the next five episodes are voiced by Gabby Eigenmann, Glaiza de Castro, Mike Tan, Kylie Padilla, Louise de los Reyes, Bea Binene, Jeric Gonzales, Betong Sumaya, Love Añover, Maey Bautista, Pekto, John Feir, Tonipet Gaba, and Roi Vinzon.

 

Tune in to the premiere episode of Alamat on July 19 on GMA Pinoy TV.

Beginning January 13, a compelling and encouraging series will captivate the hearts of Kapuso viewers as GMA Network presents the emotionally engaging primetime drama Second Chances.

 

The series will have its international premiere on GMA Network’s flagship international channel, GMA Pinoy TV.

 

Centering on the story of heartache and the love that heals it, the series depicts how an opportunity can change someone’s life while providing a powerful response to the viewers’ yearning for validation that, indeed, we all deserve a second chance. The series is topbilled by Jennylyn MercadoCamille PratsRafael Rosell, and Raymart Santiago.

 

Fresh from her success in winning the Best Actress Award at the recently concluded 2014 Metro Manila Film Festival, one of the Kapuso prime leading ladies Jennylyn Mercado once again delivers a remarkable performance as Lyra Bermudez whose life suddenly changes when a tragedy befalls her family and she loses both her husband and son.

 

Primed to show a new dimension to her acting ability is Camille Prats who portrays the character of Rebecca Villacorta, the childhood friend of Lyra and a bipolar who becomes addicted to drugs as she pines for the son she lost.

 

Returning to primetime is sought-after leading man Rafael Rosell as Jerome Padilla. He is a lawyer who has always loved Lyra even before she married her late husband.

 

Seasoned actor Raymart Santiago breathes life to the character of a single father and widower, Bernard Castelo. He finds the meaning of life and learns how to love again when he meets Lyra.

Beginning January 28, primetime viewing will never be the same as GMA Network brings to light another timeless and original drama series that promises to steal the televiewers’ hearts via the soap opera – CARMELA: ANG PINAKAMAGANDANG BABAE SA MUNDONG IBABAW.

CARMELA: ANG PINAKAMAGANDANG BABAE SA MUNDONG IBABAW premieres on January 28 on GMA Pinoy TV.

This program validates every woman’s aspiration to be understood through a beautiful story of love that can never be.

All set to deliver a powerful and compelling portrayal of the complex character of Carmela is no less than Primetime Queen Marian Rivera. In the series, Carmela is a very beautiful woman who had gone through a lot in life. With her beauty, she is judged not only by other people but also by people close to her. When Carmela falls in love with a man who despises her mother, she is forced to make heart-wrenching decisions.

The multifaceted actress is very excited with her latest TV endeavor which she says will be another unforgettable character that will surprise her fans and supporters.

Alden plays the role of Yago, the handsome and smart grandson of Fernando (Roi Vinzon) and Fides (Ms Laurice Guillen). Yago’s only wish is to find someone who will love and accept him for who he is despite his flaws and insecurities in life. His perspective in life will completely change when he meets Carmela who will show him a different view about life and love.
