Ryan AgoncilloSundays with the whole family will be more fun and exciting as GMA Network presents its newest game show – PICTURE! PICTURE! The program premieres December 8 on GMA’s flagship international channel, GMA Pinoy TV.

This one-hour game show will be hosted by returning Kapuso, ace TV host and celebrity dad Ryan Agoncillo. Ryan has certainly proved his calibre in hosting various programs over the years; and as he tries his hand at being the game master of Picture! Picture, he will surely amuse, charm and conquer the hearts of Filipino families locally and abroad.

Picture! Picture! will show viewers how photos can be emotionally engaging, eliciting wide range of emotions. The experience is made more fun as four contestants play as a team and take their chance to win as much as half a million pesos by correctly answering 10 picture-aided-questions with only 30 seconds to come up with an answer.

After a set of three questions, the team must eliminate one member. The first person to buzz in and give the correct answer will have the power to kick out a player. In answering a kick out question, the player’s first answer will be considered his/her last answer.

Making Picture! Picture! extra thrilling is the “Back Ups” option which will help the team survive the game. First is Twin Picks where the team is allowed to choose two answers from the three choices. They can use this only once anytime during the game except in the last question. The Save Pic, on the other hand, is the team’s extra life. If they give the wrong answer, they will be automatically saved and will be allowed to continue playing.

The game is over when the remaining players either make a mistake or reach the final question. For the jackpot question, the player must give his/her answers to the five pictures shown within the 60 seconds time limit. If the game ends and there’s still time, a new team will play.

Picture! Picture!’s interactive and unique elements that are culturally relevant across all ages and gender make it more fun, relatable and educational for viewers to watch.

GMA International triumphantly celebrates its 8th anniversary with eight NAMIC Excellence in Multicultural Marketing Awards (EMMA) – the most number of awards won by GMA so far in this prestigious global marketing competition, which recognizes excellence in marketing efforts designed to attract and retain culturally diverse audiences and customers among African American, Asian, Hispanic and other market segments in North America.

GMA won alongside some of the world’s biggest pay-television distributors such as Comcast, Rogers and Time Warner Cable and also Network/Industry suppliers like HBO, The Oprah Winfrey Network and Univision.

The meet and greet with the cast of award-winning situational comedy Pepito Manaloto starring three-time Asian TV Awards best comedy actor, Michael V. won first place in the Grassroots category. Drawing a combined crowd of over 1,700 Filipino-Americans in Seafood City Cerritos and Carson, California, the event was conceptualized particularly for Filipino-Americans, who yearn for the classic Filipino brand of comedy.

The Bayani Tour, which gave a group of second-generation Filipino-Americans including YouTube celebrities AJ Rafael, Joseph Vincent, and Jeremy Passion a historical and cultural immersion tour of the Philippines, also received a first place award in the Social Media category. Educating second-generation Fil-Ams about their Filipino heritage, the tour extended its objective not only to the participants but also to AJ, Joseph and Jeremy’s nearly 1.4 million combined numbers of subscribers. It is worthy to note that the Bayani Tour also bagged a second place award for Diversity Awareness.

As part of promoting GMA News TV International, GMA International distributed information kits to highlight the 11 million Filipinos overseas’ need to be connected to home though the Philippines’ number one news channel. This marketing effort won second place in the All Other Media category for it was proven most effective among major carriers in Canada adding GMA News TV to their channel offerings.

GMA’s 2013 rendition of the Philippine National Anthem also won second place in the Television category for creatively presenting the Filipino spirit of heroism to Filipinos across the globe and to the rest of the world.  The music video echoes in more ways than one GMA International’s promise of “Bringing Filipinos Closer To Home.”

Winning third place in the Premium Category is the GMA International 6th anniversary milestone shirt, which depicted GMA International as a fast-growing source of superior entertainment and the most credible news from home. The shirts were distributed during the Philippine Independence Day celebrations and among GMA International affiliates all over the world.

Likewise bagging a third place recognition in the Print category is the GMA International 7th anniversary print ad. GMA Pinoy TV first started airing in the United States in August 2005 via COMCAST north California, and to commemorate this milestone GMA International implemented a print campaign as a way of thanking their viewers for their continued patronage over the years. A total of 67,000 copies of the 7th year anniversary ad were printed and circulated in north California.

Rounding off GMA International’s success in this year’s NAMIC (EMMA) Awards is the Proud to be Pinoy 2012 TV Special that scored third place in the Television Category. The TV special was recognized for re-affirming GMA International’s strong presence during the various Philippine Independence Day celebrations that had a record-breaking number of participants reaching 140,000 worldwide. GMA’s international business unit successfully celebrated the 114th Philippine Independence day by making it not just a celebration of freedom but also a reminder of their pivotal role in shaping the Filipino people’s future.

GMA International has been recognized by NAMIC for almost every year since the launch of GMA Pinoy TV in 2005. Last year, GMA International emerged as one of the most awarded companies in the competition with six awards in total including two first place finishes for its “Support Manny Pacquiao” online marketing campaign (Digital category) and for its international magazine “Kapuso Abroad” (Grassroots category).

“We are honored that GMA International is recognized again, and in a big way, at this year’s Excellence in Multicultural Marketing Awards,” says GMA International Vice President and Head of Operations, Joseph T. Francia. “It is noteworthy that our awards this year cover a wide range of our tactics using both emerging and traditional media. This will inspire us to continue to innovate in creating effective marketing tactics to reach our various audiences abroad,” he adds.

NAMIC is an international organization that recognizes superior multicultural marketing practices in the cable industry. Established as non-profit trade organization in 1980, it has over 2,700 professionals from a network of 16 chapters worldwide.

The awarding of winners will be held on October 9 during the US Cable Diversity Week in New York City.

Filipinos from all parts of the world will have the chance to look back on the colourful and successful celebration of the Philippines’ 115th Independence Day as GMA Pinoy TV shares the event highlights in a TV special dubbedProud to be Pinoy: Philippine Independence Day Celebration 2013.

GMA International – the business unit handling the operations and distribution of the Kapuso Network’s three international channels – was at the heart of this worldwide affair in partnership with different Filipino-American and Filipino-Canadian groups and communities.

Kapuso artists participated in key events across the United States and Canada starting off with the Philippine Independence Day Celebration in New York attended by Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr., Marian Rivera, Rafael Rosell and Julie Anne San Jose. The four performed in a special number and also greeted their kababayans on board the much-adored Kapuso float.

Over in California, two commemorative events were held to mark the Independence Day celebration – the Philippine Cultural Committee (PCC)’s Pista sa Nayon in Vallejo and the Balilkatan sa Pag-Unlad in Carson City.

Pista sa Nayon was highlighted by Dennis Trillo and Glaiza de Castro’s impressive performances, along with the reenactment of our country’s history entitled “Kasaysayan ng Lahi,” which, noted journalist, Greg Macabenta helped mount. In Carson City, Marian Rivera and Rafael Rosell were warmly received by their Kapuso fans, who were treated in return, with the Kapuso stars’ outstanding performances.

Dennis Trillo and Glaiza de Castro also wowed the audience in Seattle at the equally successful Pagdiriwang 2013.Glaiza also participated at the Philippine American Friendship Parade and Festival at West Side Avenue and Lincoln Park in Jersey City.

Not to be left behind, Pinoys in Toronto, Canada had their Pinoy Fiesta and Trade Show that turned out to be a big hit as well. Dennis Trillo, Rafael Rosell and Glaiza de Castro added glitter to the occasion much to the delight of their adoring fans.

The Kapuso artists certainly did not disappoint the thousands of Filipinos who came to commemorate such important milestone in Philippine history. All these would not have been possible without the concerted effort of GMA International and their partners as they worked hand in hand in giving our kababayans truly an enjoyable and memorable experience.

Witness all these in Proud to be Pinoy: Philippine Independence Day Celebration 2013 TV special which will air on July 28 on GMA’s flagship international channel, GMA Pinoy TV. GMA-7’s Kusina Master proves its international caliber once more after winning as Best Lifestyle Program at the prestigious 19th Annual NAMIC Vision Awards. Chef Boy Logro’s well-loved cooking show, which was submitted as an entry for GMA Life TV, the first Filipino lifestyle channel abroad, also makes history as the first ever winner from GMA as well as the Philippines in the said competition.

GMA Pinoy TV’s co-production Pusong Pinoy Sa Amerika, on the other hand, bagged a nomination in the Foreign Language Category.

GMA Vice President and Head of International Operations Joseph T. Francia considers their latest achievement as an important milestone for GMA Life TV, which recently marked its fifth anniversary. “This award is truly an honor for both GMA Life TV and the excellent team behind Kusina Master, confirming its world class standards for the second time this year,” he said.

Kusina Master bested entries from Scripps, one of the biggest TV networks in the US. This award comes right on the heels of the program’s recent victory at the 2013 US International Film and Video Festival, wherein it earned a Certificate for Creative Excellence.

GMA OIC for Entertainment TV Lilybeth G. Rasonable expresses her thanks for all the recognition and praise that Kusina Master has been receiving not only in the Philippines, but also internationally. “We sincerely thank theNAMIC Vision Awards for this honor and we commit to continue delivering superior information and entertainment to our audience here and abroad,” she enthused.

Nicol Turner-Lee, Ph.D, President and CEO of the National Association of Minorities in Communications (NAMIC), informed GMA International of the win and extended her “congratulations on this esteemed honor.”

Nearly five years after its original television debut, CAPTAIN BARBELL takes flight once more as GMA Pinoy TV launches the exciting new sequel to the action-adventure series on March 30. The story promises to be more exciting, and the visual effects more amazing, as the greatest Pinoy superhero returns with a new league of extraordinary beings with astounding superpowers.

Richard as Captain Barbell

Richard Gutierrez reinterprets his role as the superhero Captain Barbell, and his alter ego, Teng. While Richard has immensely grown as an actor, so did Captain Barbell, who is now set to take on a greater mantle of protecting good from evil, still bearing of course, his iconic red cape.

Solenn Heusaff

The story picks up where it left off from the first series with Teng and his besotted Leah (Rhian Ramos) settling down in the city. But their simple life takes a dark turn when Leah is killed and becomes a heart donor to an undisclosed recipient.

In the spirit of true heroism, Captain Barbell fights through his sorrow and continues his quest for peace and order. He meets his strongest opponent in Nero (Christopher de Leon), an evil genius who became rich through his malevolent ways. Teng, on the other hand,

TJ Trinidad

clashes with Gregor (TJ Trinidad) whose father owns the tenement where Teng lives.

Meanwhile, during a freak storm formed by Nero, Captain Barbell helps a woman give birth in the tenement. This woman soon dies thus leaving Teng with the responsibility of taking care of her daughter, whom Teng names Leah or Lelay (Jillian Ward). At the same time, a strong lightning strikes Teng’s barbell, which in turn spreads unique superpowers among some of the tenants.

Eddie Gutierrez

Years later, these tenants begin to discover their newfound gifts with some of them choosing to harness their superpowers for good, others for evil. One of them is Gregor, who has grown more jealous and hateful towards Teng. Gregor teams up with Nero, and along with the other supervillains, declares war against Captain Barbell.

On the other hand, General Armando (Eddie Gutierrez), a rich philanthropist, joins forces with Captain Barbell and urges him to pool together the new league of

Michelle Madrigal

superheroes.

As Captain Barbell/Teng braves the dark forces, he also struggles with matters of the heart as he tries to uncover whom between his kind next-door neighbor Melanie (Isabel Oli) and Lelay’s school teacher Althea (Lovi Poe) received Leah’s heart. He also crosses paths with two other ladies who likewise play important roles in his life – his arrogant boss Anita (Michelle Madrigal) and the avid news reporter Jana (Solenn Heusaff).

With his extraordinary strength, unmatched fighting

Lovi Poe

skills, and nearly invincible armor, can Captain Barbell together with the Liga ng Kalayaan successfully take down the supervillains, and defend his name as the ultimate protector of peace? How will he uncover the identity of Leah’s mysterious recipient? Which superheroes will form the Liga ng Kalayaan and who will side with the evil Nero?

Four lovely and capable actresses, Isabel Oli, Lovi Poe, Michelle Madrigal, and Solenn Heusaff play significant roles in Teng/Captain Barbell’s life, while lovable child wonder Jillian Ward stars as the superhero’s sidekick/pseudo-

Jillian Ward

adopted daughter. Rhian Ramos reprises her role as Leah in the pilot week of the show.

Led by veteran actor and Richard’s real life father Eddie Gutierrez, the Liga ng Kalayaan are Bianca King as Lary, General Armando’s fearless assistant; Mike Tan as Teban, a former thief-turned-ally of Captain Barbell; Jake Vargas as Alden, a young superhero with a top as his weapon of choice; Bea Binene as Misha, another young superhero who wields power with her sword; andFrencheska Farr

Bea Binene

as Celina, the superheroine with a sonic voice.

On the other side, multi-award-winning actor Christopher de Leon heads the supervillains as Nero. Joining him are TJ Trinidad as Gregor, Teng/Captain Barbell’s fiercest enemy next to Nero; Paolo Paraiso as Rodel, the sandman;Akihiro Sato as Bruno, the hulkman; Elvis Gutierrez as Gaston, Gregor’s collaborator in spreading evil; Ervic Vijandre as Ricky, the flash; Sam Pintoas Sammy, the age-

Completing the star-studded cast are Marky Lopez as Hekki, Jana’s assistant; and Ces Quesada as Tiya Lita, Lelay’s manipulative aunt.

This modern interpretation of the Mars Ravelo classic takes it a notch higher as it utilizes cutting edge 3D technology and computer-generated images or CGI in retelling the legendary story. Story-wise,

2011’s CAPTAIN BARBELL promises to be more dramatic, action-packed, and fast-paced than ever.
