“Like every girl, excited ako at the thought of turning 18. Pero pwede bang magwish? Pwede po bang wala ng party?,” says Kapuso teen actress Barbie Forteza, who is looking forward to celebrating this important milestone in her life on July 31.

Barbie emphasized that instead of spending so much on a grand debut, she would rather use the money for other more meaningful things.

Children have always had special place in Barbie’s sweet heart, thus, in celebration of her debut, Barbie adopted a room at the Philippine Children’s Medical Center (PCMC) in Diliman, Quezon City. She has been helping PCMC in the past 4 years and plans to continue sharing her blessings to the kids in the hospital.

The “Adopt-A-Room” program of PCMC enables entities or individuals to choose and adopt a private room which they want to renovate and convert into a special private room. Once renovated and occupied, the proceeds of the room will go to “charity rooms”.

Other private institutions and brand giants have already adopted rooms from PCMC, but Barbie is the first ever celebrity to participate in this worthy cause.

The renovation for Barbie’s adopted room is currently on-going with the talented young actress actively participating in the process with the help of GMA Artist Center and Architects Jose Ricky Martinez and Richie Ongteco.

Barbie’s partners in making her dreams come to life include her generous sponsors BNY, Unisilver Time, Posh Nails, BS Mobile, Fruitas, Belladona Bags, Megawide, Happy Haus Donuts, Pizza Pedricos, Cris-Carl Stuffed Toys, Megasoft Diapers, Muebles De Cristina Furniture, Fernando’s Bakeshop, Chocovron, Ritz Biscuits, Jao Ming Glutathione, Rotary Club of Makati and Flawless.

Barbie stars as the other half in the highly successful GMA drama The Half Sisters, which airs worldwide on GMA Pinoy TV. She will also be part of the new Sunday noontime show, PinaSaya.

Kapuso teen star Andre Paras may have been a household name because of the phenomenal ratings success of The Half Sisters but he still gets starstruck by other celebrities. Andre revealed that he got overwhelmed meeting the Philippine Comedy Queen Aiai delas Alas for the first time.

This happened during the taping for the special “crossover” of the character of Andre as Bradley in the The Half Sisters and the character of Aiai as DJ Jeni in the primetime series Let the Love Begin.

“I wanted to say “how I are you, I can’t wait to work with you (Aiai).” Pero, the thing that came out to my mouth is “Hi.” Na-strastruck po ako. I can say na I’m honored to be working with her po,” Andre said in an interview.

Kapuso viewers will witness this exciting “crossover” of Bradley as he visits the radio show of DJ Jeni to declare his love for Diana played by Barbie Forteza. Along with Buboy Villar as Marlon, Bradley seeks for Diana’s forgiveness and asks her to give him a second chance.

Aiai, on the other hand, expressed her excitement for this special episode of the two shows, “Ang cute nga eh kasi ngayon ko lang na-experience na may crossover yung mga shows.”

Will Bradley succeed in his plan? What will be DJ Jeni’s advice to Bradley? Will Diana change her mind and forgive Bradley?

Under the direction of Mark Reyes, catch this crossover episode of Bradley and DJ Jeni in The Half Sisters on June 3 on GMA Pinoy TV.

GMA Network’s The Half Sisters is undoubtedly the number one daytime drama show in the Philippines as the series continues its phenomenal ratings success, according to data from the industry’s widely trusted ratings service provider Nielsen TV Audience Measurement.

Based on National Urban Philippines data for March 1-31 (March 22-31 based on overnight data), The Half Sisters registered a household rating of 17.6 percent, leading ABS-CBN’s Flordeliza’s 10.3 percent by 7.3 points.

In Urban Luzon, which comprises 77 percent of the total urban TV households nationwide, The Half Sisters posted 19.9 percent household ratings, 11 points higher than Flordeliza’s 8.9 percent.

The Afternoon Prime series likewise led in Mega Manila, which represents 59 percent of the total urban TV households in the country, with 21.1 percent household ratings, leading Flordeliza’s 7.9 percent by 13.2 points.

Avid viewers of The Half Sisters will have more reason to stay glued to their favorite drama series as it will now air up to June this year with more plot twists to be revealed in the succeeding episodes.

The Half Sisters explores the phenomenon of hetero-paternal superfecundation, which is the successive fertilization of two or more ova from the same ovulation cycle by different sires. This is made possible by separate successive acts of sexual intercourse resulting to one woman bearing “twins” with different fathers.

This controversial soap opera stars Kapuso teen actresses Barbie Forteza as the kind, diligent and obedient Diana Alcantara, and Thea Tolentino as the spoiled, conceited and manipulative Ashley Alcantara.

The cast is also composed of Derrick Monasterio and Andre Paras, together with Ms. Gloria Romero, Jean Garcia, Eula Valdez, Jomari Yllana, Mel Martinez, and Ryan Eigenmann. All of them could not be any happier as they continue to reap praises from viewers and positive feedbacks from netizens for their great performances.

Expect more revelations and twists as the drama continues in The Half Sisters, directed by Mark Reyes, weekdays after Eat Bulaga on GMA Afternoon Prime.

A year after Yolanda hit the Philippines, the survivors’ stories of resilience continue as they rebuild from the ruins of their storm-ravaged homes.

Since the typhoon’s landfall in 2013, GMA Kapuso Foundation (GMAKF) – with its long-standing commitment to Serbisyong Totoo – has been a steadfast advocate in turning these stories of loss into stories of hope through its quick response in times of need and its extensive disaster relief programs.

On the anniversary of Yolanda, GMAKF officially turned over 120 permanent concrete houses of Phase II and III of its Kapuso Village in Tacloban City to select families displaced by the super typhoon.

GMAKF is the first NGO to turn over permanent concrete housing to Yolanda survivors in Tacloban City.

A total of 172 houses were turned over since July 2014. An additional 231 houses will be ready for occupancy in the coming months, fulfilling in part the Foundations’ 403-unit concrete housing project in the area.

“For the Yolanda survivors, a year definitely will not suffice to alleviate the pain from the loss of family members and ruined homes. However, our commitment in rebuilding lives through this long term project will help regain the hope of many displaced residents,” shares GMAKF EVP and COO Mel C. Tiangco.

The beneficiaries were emotional during the turnover as they recalled the height of the storm and what they went through. Even so, they were grateful for the outpouring of assistance they received from GMAKF and its partners.

Through the generosity of numerous citizens all over the world, the project was able to come to fruition. Furthermore, GMA Network and its roster of stars showed the true meaning of the Kapuso spirit by participating in GMAKF’s Yolanda rehabilitation efforts.

Just this month, GMA launched its 2014 “Share the Love” Christmas campaign reminding its viewers that rebuilding lives entails a collaborative effort from generous hearts and passionate spirits.

GMA unveiled the campaign with an event plug featuring Mel Tiangco joined by Kapuso stars as they shared an early Christmas with the residents of the Kapuso Village in Tacloban.

The plug garnered positive reviews on Facebook with users commenting on the wonderful message of the campaign and GMAKF’s tireless efforts in helping those in need. Facebook user Gerolou says, “That’s why kind-hearted people trusted GMA Kapuso Foundation because they can see where their donations go… hope to fulfill 400 or more houses for Yolanda victims onward!”

Meanwhile, Facebook user Khryss, a Yolanda survivor, praises the video saying, “It makes my heart smile upon seeing this video and the song has really moved me. Thanks for motivating a lot of people in doing humanitarian missions. We are still blessed to have people like you.”

Since its launch, over 100 Kapuso celebrities and News and Public Affairs personalities have shared the love by sponsoring food, toys, medical treatments and medicines for the Kapuso Foundation’s beneficiaries in the country, including other Yolanda-affected areas.

In addition to the housing project in Tacloban, GMAKF also pledged the construction of 24 new classrooms under its Kapuso School Development project within the Kapuso Village. Meanwhile, another Kapuso Village will soon rise in Palo, which includes 169 concrete houses and 10 classrooms.

GMAKF has also turned over 15 classrooms in Barangay Sulangan, Guiuan, Eastern Samar. Moreover, construction and rehabilitation is underway for 40 classrooms in Quinapondan, Eastern Samar and in Villaba and Kananga in Leyte.

Going beyond immediate disaster relief efforts, GMAKF is committed to utilizing its resources to create a lasting impact on the lives of their beneficiaries.

Is it possible for a woman to conceive “twins” with different fathers?

This is the attention-grabbing premise of The Half Sisters, GMA Network’s newest drama series currently airing on the Network’s flagship international channel, GMA Pinoy TV.

The series also features seasoned actress Jean Garcia as Rina Mercado-Alcantara, the doting mother of Diana and Ashley; multi-talented actor Jomari Yllana as Benjamin/Benjie Valdicañas, the ex-boyfriend of Rina and the biological father of Diana; and versatile actor Ryan Eigenmann as Alfred Alcantara, the hardworking biological father of Ashley and the husband of Rina.

Playing opposite the teen actresses are the Kapuso Network’s up and coming leading men, Derrick Monasterio as Baste Torres, a working student who will be Diana’s close friend; and Andrei Paras as Bradley Castillo, the rich, good-looking school jock.

In the series, Rina (Jean) becomes pregnant with “twins,” one sired through copulation with her husband Alfred (Ryan) and the other one sired when she was raped by her former boyfriend Benjie (Jomari).

Benjie is sent to prison for his crime, while Rina remains a loving wife to Alfred. Rina eventually gives birth to twins Diana (Barbie) and Ashley (Thea).

Meanwhile, Alfred is having doubts on the paternity of the children and demands Rina to undergo DNA testing. The results confirm the occurrence of hetero-paternal superfecundation, wherein Rina’s twins have different fathers – Diana by Benjie and Ashley by Alfred.

After Benjie is released from prison, he begins managing their family business which eventually becomes successful. On the other hand, Alfred’s business has failed. Prompted by financial woes and obligations, Alfred asks his daughter Ashley to pretend to be the biological daughter of Benjie so that his daughter can live a more comfortable life, thus, robbing Diana of her birthright as the rightful heiress.

How will the uncommon situation affect Alfred and Rina’s marriage? Until when can Alfred and Ashley keep their deception? Will Benjie and Diana ever know the truth about their father-daughter relationship?

Directed by Mark Reyes, find out how the intertwined lives of Diana and Ashley unfold in The Half Sisters only on GMA Pinoy TV.
