The long wait is over for Kapuso Primetime King Dingdong Dantes as his hard work has finally paid off upon completing his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration major in Marketing from the West Negros University in Bacolod City, Philippines last Sunday (March 23).

Dingdong also received a special citation for being their batch’s Ambassador of Goodwill. Despite his busy schedule in showbiz, Dingdong still managed to give priority to his studies. The momentous event of his life was witnessed by his parents Sixto Z. Dantes and Ma. Angelita G. Dantes, his uncles Col. Edgar Dantes and Commodore Herby Escutin, his bestfriend Harvey Camposano, and his girlfriend and Kapuso Primetime Queen Marian Rivera.

“Alam mo, you really need to manage your time well. When you’re given assignments, kailangan matuto ka ring mag-sacrifice at mag-balanse kung alin ang dapat i-prioritize. Education is the solution. It is not enough to know what your goal is, you must know how to chase it – and chase it real damn well,” said Dingdong.

After his graduation, Dingdong plans to pursue the “One Chair, One Child” project of his Yes Pinoy Foundation and Lifeline Foundation Support Team, Inc. This aims to provide chairs to all students of a school in Iloilo City that was greatly affected by Typhoon Yolanda last year.

Aside from his Yes Pinoy project, the Kapuso Primetime King also gears up for his return on Primetime TV via Ang Dalawang Mrs. Real with Diamond Star Maricel Soriano and Kapuso Premier Drama Actress Lovi Poe soon. Ang Dalawang Ms. Real can be seen worldwide on GMA’s flagship international channel, GMA Pinoy TV.

“It is a dream come true for me to finally work with the Diamond Star and the opportunity to work with an award-winning actress like Lovi Poe on television. The combination of these two women makes my job more engaging as an actor,” he noted.

GMA Kapuso Foundation (GMAKF), in collaboration with the city government of Iligan, completed the second phase of its Kapuso Village in Purok Tubaran, Barangay Mandulog, Iligan City as it turned over 60 composite type row houses to displaced victims of typhoon Sendong (international name: tropical storm Washi).

The turnover ceremony for phase II was conducted last February 21 and led by GMAKF Executive Vice-President and Chief Operating Officer Mel C. Tiangco, along with Barangay Mandulog Punong Barangay Abungal P. Cauntongan, Al Haj, and Iligan City Mayor Celso G. Regencia.

Beneficiaries of the project were also present to witness the ceremony. Chosen by the Kapuso Village Housing Committee composed of representatives from GMAKF, the H, Housing and Resettlement office, City Mayor’s Office, and barangay council, the beneficiaries are primarily those whose houses were completely destroyed by the typhoon.

The turnover marks the completion of the 180-unit housing project in the city. Phase I of the project, composed of 120 units in Purok 17, Barangay Mandulog was turned over last April 2013.

Each unit is typically designed with a fiber-cement board ceiling, a paved front deck, toilet and bath, a paved laundry area, and provisions for bedroom, living, dining and kitchen facilities. The units were also supplied with home appliances donated by Hanabishi.

A community tree-planting was also held on the same day, with staff and volunteers from GMAKF, Phase 1 and Phase 2 beneficiaries, and members of the barangay council planting 350 seedlings along the riverbank near the resettlement area.

GMAKF has had numerous rehabilitation projects in the city to address the devastation left by typhoon Sendong. Among these are the construction of a 10-classroom school building in Mandulog Elementary School, and the drilling and installation of a deepwell water facility in Sitio Cabaro, and a Jet-matic handpump in Purok 6, both in Barangay Upper Hinaplanon.

Another 2-classroom structure was also erected in the Deus Caritas Village Phase II in Barangay Upper Tominobo, Iligan City.

GMA Network is set to make a splash on international screens as Kambal Sirena takes Kapuso viewers on the breathtaking journey of twins, Alona and Perlas.

The fresh and original story of Kambal Sirena is certainly something to watch out for—from its state-of-the-art production design to its spectacular visual effects. Kambal Sirena, a fantasy drama series,  is not only a captivating love story but also values how differences can bring people closer to each other.

Leading the colorful characterizations of the sirenaserye is Kapuso Prime leading lady Louise Delos Reyes. From the success of her previous series Alakdana, One True Love, and Mundo Mo’y Akin, viewers will surely be captivated by Louise’ most challenging role to date. The Kapuso actress capitalizes on the duality of the challenge, to assume roles as twins Alona and Perlas.

In the series, Alona and Perlas are born with unusual features—one is born with gills behind her ears and the other with a mermaid’s tail. Worried that neighbors might be surprised by their strange features, their mother decides to move them to an isolated island. Due to unfortunate circumstances, Alona and Perlas end up living separately. Perlas lives with her mother and works in an ocean park while Alona lives as a princess within the confines of the waters—the kingdom of Sirenadia.

Another thing to look forward to is the first  ever team-up  of Louise with Kapuso Prime leading man Aljur Abrenica. Aljur plays the role of Kevin, the rich and handsome son of Susanna (Lotlot De Leon), whom the twins fall in love with. Kevin manages the family company where he meets Perlas.  As they start to develop feelings for each other, Susana learns that Perlas is the daughter of Marissa (Mickey Ferriols), who they consider as the cause of her brother Enrique’s (Ryan Eigenmann) death. Meanwhile, Alona also falls in love with Kevin as she saves him from being drowned.

Two individuals with different personalities and circumstances fighting for one man. Who will win the heart of Kevin? Will the uniqueness in Alona and Perlas be a hindrance for them to be loved?

Kambal Sirena begins airing on GMA Network’s international flagship channel, GMA Pinoy TV on March 11.
