HK PCG ACTIVITIES FOR RIZAL@150
The public is invited to participate in the activities lined up by the Philippine Consulate General on 19 June 2011 to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Philippine National Hero Dr. Jose P. Rizal, who lived in Hong Kong for 6 months from 1891 to 1892.
The University of the Philippines Alumni Association and Lakbay Dangal will lead a hike from Hong Kong Park Olympic Square to Victoria Peak starting at 7:30 am. Enroute from the Peak, Lakbay Dangal will be giving a historical walking tour of Dr. Rizal’s daily route from his residence in Rednaxela Terrace to his clinic on D’Aguilar Street, which have both been marked with commemorative plaques by the Hong Kong Antiquities Authority. Wreath-laying ceremonies will be held at these sites.
At 1:00 pm, the seminal film Jose Rizal by acclaimed director Marilou Diaz Abaya on the life of Dr. Rizal will be shown at the Consulate General’s Conference Room.
Finally, renowned historian Fr. Javier de Pedro will be talking on Dr. Rizal’s relationship with the enigmatic Josephine Bracken in a lecture-forum at the Consulate General’s public area at 4:30 pm.

PHILIPPINE CONSULATE GENERAL AND HONG KONG LABOUR DEPARTMENT TO CONDUCT WELCOMING PROGRAM FOR NEW OFWS IN HONG KONG
31 May 2011 – Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) who arrived in Hong Kong from the period of July 2010 to May 2011 are invited to attend a Welcoming Program to be conducted at 2:00p.m.-5:00p.m. on Sunday, 26 June 2011 in the Sai Ying Pun Community Complex Hall.
The program’s resource persons include officers from the Workplace Consultation Promotion Division and Employment Agencies Administration of the Hong Kong Labour Department, and representatives from the Philippine Consulate General and its attached agencies, namely: Philippine Overseas Labor Office, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, PhilHealth, Pag-Ibig and Social Security System.
The objective of the Welcoming Program is to brief new workers about Hong Kong’s Employment Ordinance and provide them with pointers when using the services of employment agencies in Hong Kong. It will also introduce the participants to the various services offered by the Consulate General and its attached agencies.
The program is free of charge and seats are limited to 350 participants. Interested participants must register with the PCG’s Assistance to Nationals (ATN) Section through telephone numbers 2823-8513, 2823-8506, 2823-8510 or 2823-8512-End.
