Well this blog is dedicated to friends and acquaintances, who have graced me with their presence. Some of them are already big stars and some are just budding actors/actresses, but I treat them all the same.
Hong Kong with it’s close proximity to the Philippines, has been the vacation destination by choice, by some of the Philippines actors/actresses. It’s just a ferry ride to Macau, there’s a lot of shopping to do, and places to visit.
Sometimes they also choose Hong Kong, as a location for movie shoots, television shoots, and commercials. So I have been quite fortunate to have been called to assist, coordinate, and make arrangements for people such as directors, producers, and such individuals. I have also been lucky to have been interviewed for segment stories, both in television, and magazines. We also hold the Philippine Independence here
in Hong Kong, wherein there are shows or concerts, which are dedicated to my fellow kababayans (countrymen).
Among the Philippine celebrities that I can remember, who have graced Hong Kong, are Dolphy (King of Comedy), Robin Padilla (Action Prince), Sharon Cuneta (Mega Star ), Ogie Alcasid (Singer/Song Writer), Regine Velasquez (Asia’s Song Bird), Arnel Pineda
(Journey), Angelica dela Cruz, Iwa Moto, Alfred Vargas, Joey de Leon, Keempee de Leon, K Brosas, Gladys Reyes, Randy Santiago (Mr. Shades), Rufa Mae Quinto, Ruffa Guttierez, Janno Gibbs, Ehra Madrigal, Michael V. (Bitoy), just to name a few. I have been lucky to have escorted some, even to neighboring Macau for location shootings.
There are movie premieres for Filipino movies, which are released in Hong Kong. One such movie premiere is
I.T.A.L.Y (I Trust And Love You), starring Jolina Magdangal, Rufa Mae Quinto, Mark Herras, Rhian Ramos, Dennis Trillo, Eugene Domingo, Marvin Agustin, and many more. It was shown at the Golden Gateway Cinema in Canton Road, Tsim Sha Tsui. Rufa Mae Quinto was the actress who attended the premiere night. To show support for her, her friend Ruffa Guttierez and family, also attended the premiere night.
Then there was the show produced by
Eric Quizon, for his father the King of Comedy, Dolphy. The show was entitled Dolphy @80 World Tour Hong Kong. The show was a mixture of comedy show, and concert. This show also featured the other Quizon clans, such as Boy 2, Vandolph, Epy, etc., and also in the show was Dolphy’s better half, Zsa Zsa Padilla, still beautiful as ever. Also Carlos Padilla, international boxing referee, showed support to his daughter, by attending the show.
Another one was the Concert of Piolo Pascaula and Sam Milby, which was held at the Hong Kong Coliseum. It was sponsored by 1528 Smart, a division of Smart Communications, a mobile service provider in the Philippines. Among the other guest were, Chokoleit, and Piolo’s family showed their support for him by attending. It was a packed house, and the crowd comes alive every time the two handsome hunks appear on stage.
Then there is show held by Barkadahan sa Smartone, a division of Smartone-Vodafone, a local Hong Kong mobile service provider catering to the OFW’s, which was the Barkadahan Millionaire Game Show. The theme of the show is similar to Deal or No Deal Game Show, but with a local twist. Which featured Kris Lawrence, a Filipino American singer.
